Wales

Portmeirion

Designed and built by an excenntric with too much money Portmeirion was built in the style of an Italian village. It is all artifice. The buildings are typically one third size so what appears to be a church is just a small building, or even a facade. The boat is entirely fake, made of cement.

A great late sixites series called The Prisoner was filmed here which is why I made my usual pilgrimage and spent the night near “No 6’s” cottage.

Warren's 2013 UK / Italy trip

Lewes - East Sussex

The tilting grounds next to Lewes castle where they would have jousting tournaments. It's been a bowling lawn for the last 500 years or so and is seriously hilly and bumpy.

Dunno what happened in this street but the name ....

14th Century house, now a bookshop.

My local

I discovered this farm today specialising in cider and perry.
